The time for our departure is growing short and we are enthusiastic about our return to Mexico. The only “hang-up” is the medical clearance process. Thankfully, last Friday, Donna received word that she was cleared to return to the field. But unexpectedly, the consulting firm that is charged with gathering all our medical records, contacted us requesting a document that we had sent them back in December. Long story short, the document was resubmitted and hopefully Alan’s clearance will be forthcoming. W’e're cutting it close! There are only 5 days left until our departure and only three business days.
We’ve been in touch with some friends in Hermosillo and they are excited about our arrival. The church(es) appear to be doing well, although its a tough job to plant new churches in such a worldly, secular society. We can’t wait to see our friends again and to see how our second term plays out.
On a different note, it seems that our part of Hermosillo is changing rapidly. We heard from some colleagues that new businesses are popping up everywhere. Included in the list are a new Carl’s Jr restaurant less than a block from our house and an International House of Pancakes (the first one I’ve heard of in Mexico) just down the street. Also, one of our favorite Hermosillo landmarks, Gordo’s Hot Dogs, has opened a second location just minutes away. Thankfully Gold’s Gym is there to help keep my waistline under control. HA HA!
